Due to its high melt viscosity, UHMW-PE is processed using methods like compression molding, ram extrusion, and warm forging. It has a crystalline melting point of 267°F (131°C) and a recommended maximum service temperature of about 200°F (93°C). Care should be taken when fastening UHMW-PE to prevent buckling due to thermal expansion.
